Age of consent in Aruba’s European Union colonial Master, the Netherlands??

What’s still going on on Aruba around Natalee Holloway’s mistreatment by someone is reflective of Aruba’s sole function as a gilded vestige of Dutch colonial Europe. Is it true that the legal age of sexual consent in the Netherlands - and in Aruba? - is only twelve (12) years old, or is that only a bad rumour? I need a reality check on that info so somebody please set me straight. If true it would be ludicrous for a "modern" society - in my opinion. I feel sorry that such things reflect the secretive, biased, European (white) dominated "Dutch" Caribbean society that Natalee and her (way too young) high school tour group and the adults who allowed this tour played right into. As of today 5 men, including Dutch judge Van Der Sloot, are under arrest in Natalee’s bizarre disappearance. I cannot recall any sorrier, more sordid case in a (very whitened) "tourist paradise" in recent memory in the Americas.
